Kaak warka is considered one of the most popular Tunisian desserts. This dessert recipe is made on various occasions and religious holidays. You can make this dessert, especially on Eid al-Fitr after the holy month of Ramadan.
Ingredients:
2 kg of flour
1 kg of almonds
750 g of butter
750 g of caster sugar
Half a cup of rose water
a pinch of salt
Kaak Warka is distinguished by its round shape and crispy texture. So how to make it?
Instructions:
Mix the flour with the salt, add the butter and knead well
Gradually add in the warm water when necessary
Set the dough aside, then prepare the almond dough.
Mix the almonds with rose water and fine sugar until we get a cohesive dough.
Cut the dough into small rectangles.
Boil the water and dip the dough in it a little while for about 30 seconds, and then spread it on a surface greased with butter.
Cut the dough into small pieces of a rectangular shape each of the same sizes, make sure to spread with a rolling pin until you get a thin dough
Fill each of the dough squares with a little quantity of almond dough into the shape of cigars
Roll the dough on the filling, then pinch from one side to make a hole in the side
Seal the side of the rolled dough to make one kaak
Repeat the same process until you finish the dough
Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes on a low heat
Remove from the oven, then serve and enjoy your delicious dessert!
